Orange Tree has launched its beautiful Minoo collection of lamps and lanterns. Founded by Gaurav Jain with Nikita Bansal as its Head of Design, Orange Tree is a domestic retail venture of furniture and Interior accessories company Basant that was started by Gaurav’s father Mr Vinay Kumar at Jodhpur, Rajasthan in 1998. Over a span of 22 years, Basant has made a mark across 17 countries through its design and craftsmanship and has worked with International clients such as Crate and Barrel, Westelm, Pottery Barn, H&M Home and Zara Home. The founder Vinay Kumar had a vision to start a brand in the domestic market that would bring global trends and designs in the same quality at competitive prices to the Indian audience. This thought inspired Gaurav to start Orange Tree in 2014. Driven by a strong environmentally conscious philosophy, Orange Tree believes in strong ties between culture, craftsmanship and industry, nurturing emotion and sensitivity in design and interpreting global trends that are contemporary in form but handcrafted in spirit.

“With the onset of globalisation years ago, the world became a smaller place and India became fastidious about global designs and future trends. There was a perceivable shift in the design sensibilities of the Indian audience and that was the start of Orange Tree, an Indian retail venture for contemporary craft with a universal appeal.”  Shares– Gaurav Jain – Founder, Orange Tree.

The Minoo collection (where Minoo means Heaven or Paradise in Persian) is a union of multiple ranges that are all unique in style; design and materiality but together embody a minimalist yet glamorous spirit. Taking inspiration from the Art Deco movement of the 1920’s, each piece from this collection is reminiscent of the positivity, playfulness, opulence, and the promise of a new future that defined this movement“Each design is meticulously hand made by our team of skilled artisans. The relative simplicity, planarity, meditative symmetry and unvaried repetition of elements come together to create this range” explains Nikita Bansal, Head of Design, Orange Tree.

Leaving no details or elements forgotten, this collection features artistic and well-rounded products — wall sconces, table lights, floor lamps, pendants and chandeliers — each and every piece, guided by Gaurav and Nikita’s eye for perfection. The Klimt Collection within the Minoo series is a symbolic representation of the 19th-century art movement of Impressionism characterized by small, thin brushstrokes and shifting light. The dark-hued layered pendant lights in the collection are a natural beauty. The sleek, conical, nickel-finished reading light in the Chrysler Collection shares its influences with the European Art Déco style and its name with the New York skyscraper. Taking forward the Art Deco inspiration, the Arch Collection features lamps with clean, bold, concentric lines.

The Deco hanging lamp in the Prerit Collection is meticulously hand woven in golden wires in meditative symmetry. Light filters through its many layers creating an ambience of positivity in the room. Imagining a conscious future, the Monet collection honours the humble cane in the form of a simplistic floor lamp. Additionally, the beautiful cane and wood are weaved together in the stunning, geometric pendant designs of the New Kyoto Collection. Cane takes on a more glamorous form in the Wave Collection’s hanging light where the eco-friendly material is woven into an innovative 3D wave pattern that is sure to add panache to your favourite corner. Interestingly, Orange Tree has introduced 2 new techniques – paper mache and meenakari, two stunning examples of eco-friendly craft techniques, to their repertoire of chic and conscious lighting.

Orange Tree prides itself as a brand that leads with its heart, nurtures the soul and celebrates the spirit of design while trying to maintain a balance between the ecosystem and the economy. At a time when the country and the world at large faces threats in the form of the pandemic, natural disasters due to climatic changes and water shortage, the heavenly Minoo collection is a small attempt at bringing some light, some cheer and some hope into one’s heart and home.
